Taxi drivers to get Covid cash support
A fund to support taxi and private hire drivers during the pandemic has been backed by Clackmannanshire and Dunblane MSP Keith Brown.
Under the Taxi Driver and Private Hire Drive Support Fund, launched this week by the Scottish Government, applicants may be eligible for a one-off grant of £1500.
Local authorities have been contacting eligible drivers from Monday, January 18. There is no need to contact Stirling or Clackmannanshire Councils.
Mr Brown said: “Like so many other sectors of the economy, the taxi trade in Clackmannanshire and Dunblane has been facing increased costs and reduced income as a result of this pandemic. Drivers also face the added concern of being in close proximity, in an enclosed space, with their customers.
“I hope that this payment will be a help with meeting fixed costs such as licence plate fees and insurance payments.’’
