No calamity as FADS take comedy journey in lockdown podcast

- ALASTAIR MCNEILL

Fintry Amateur Dramatics Society members have been making the most of lockdown with the creation of a new drama and podcast.

Club member Ian Kidd, of Balfron, has written and directed a comedy podcast entitled‘roaches Coaches’with help from colleagues Fintry’s Sam Yoffe and Killearn’s Stuart Kidd amongst others.

It tells the story of a struggling local bus company.

Laura Cranstoun of FADS said:“it’s a lot of fun, with refreshing characters, great jokes and puns with an enthusiastic cast to take the plot on quite a journey.”

FADS had been unable to produce annual shows, pantomimes and musical productions during the pandemic including Calamity Jane.

Laura added:“calamity Jane had been scheduled March 2020, the same week the first lockdown was announced.

“This left many members, families and audiences (spanning Stirlingshire, Glasgow, North Lanarkshire, East Dumbartonshire and Forth Valley areas) saddened not to take part in annual traditions in Fintry and the surrounding areas.

“However, with some genius writing, editing, technical knowledge and new equipment, the club has been able to adapt and demonstrate flexibility during a very challenging time for social clubs and societies, making FADS a leader in innovation in‘am dram’in an everchanging world.”

The series should be complete later this year. However, some members of the cast have written and recorded vignettes of their characters.
