Families celebrate arrival of special Christmas gift
TWO families were celebrating after welcoming babies to the world on Christmas Day.
Both Erica Rae Frances Cox and Ethan O’Connor were born on Stockport’s Stepping Hill maternity ward in the early hours of Christmas Day morning.
Ethan, who weighed 8 pounds 3ozs, was the first to be welcomed to the world after being born at 2.06am.
And just a few hours later little Erica was born at 6.52am weighing eight pounds 1oz.
Ethan’s proud parents Kerry Statham and Ryan O’Connor said that they were delighted with their new addition to the family.
And Erica’s parents Holly Farnsworth and Gareth Cox, from Heald Green, said they couldn’t believe it when Holly went into labour on Christmas Eve as Erica was due on December 12.
Heating engineer Gareth, 27, said: “It was quite a shock when Erica decided to join us on Christmas Day.
“She was born just coming up to 7am in the morning and Holly went into labour at 2am on Christmas Eve so it was quite a long labour.
“But both Holly and Erica are doing really well.
“Erica has an older stepsister Lily, seven, so the whole family are very excited about her arrival.
“We knew she was going to be late but we as soon as Holly went into labour we thought we would have a Christmas Eve baby. But for her to have been born on Christmas Day is fantastic.
“Holly’s mum has been to visit and we are expecting more family to come by to meet Erica – it’s certainly going to be a busier Christmas than we first thought we were going to have.”
