Arrests on stabbing in street

-

POLICE have now arrested three people in connection with a stabbing outside a community club in Stockport.

A 35-year-old man was left fighting for his life after he was stabbed in the leg on Truro Avenue, Brinnington, on Friday. He remains in hospital but in a stable condition.

Officers cordoned off the scene near the Salisbury Club and their investigation led to arrests.

A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and bailed pending further enquiries until later this month.

Two further arrests saw a man, 51 and a woman, 27, held on suspicion of assisting an offender. They have both been released under investigation.

Police had been called to the scene at around 9am on Friday after the injured man made it to hospital and staff raised the alert.

Nearby residents had heard shouting and arguing before the attack at around 8.40am.

It was the second stabbing in Brinnington in recent months after a man was left injured at the side of Brinnington Road in December.

He was stabbed three times but recovered.
