Tragedy support group relaunches

-

A CHARITY that supports bereaved mums and dads in Stockport has been relaunched.

Sands, a stillbirth and neonatal death support group, held an event to mark the reopening at the Torkington Centre in Hazel Grove.

As part of the relaunch stronger links have been forged with Stepping Hill and Macclesfield hospitals.

The charity will now hold monthly meetings where bereaved parents can come and talk about their loss.

Sands is run on a voluntary basis by people who have themselves experienced the death of a baby.

Natalie Englestone, chair of the group, said: “Our support group is gentle, warm and informal and we offer support to anyone who has suffered the death of a baby through late miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death and interruption of pregnancy due to abnormality.

“You can cry. You can smile. You don’t have to talk if you don’t want to.

“We want you to know that you are not alone and are guaranteed a warm reception from bereaved parents who understand.”
