Tributes to death crash teenager

THE heart­bro­ken fam­ily of a for­mer Stock­port school­girl who died in a car crash said she ‘couldn’t wait to start her adult life’.

Demi Paige Grewer suf­fered fa­tal in­juries in the col­li­sion in the early hours of Sun­day morn­ing.

The 18-year-old, who had at­tended Pri­est­nall School in Heaton Mersey, is be­lieved to have been on her way home from a birth­day cel­e­bra­tion when the car she was trav­el­ling in crashed at a round­about.

The trainee hair­dresser is un­der­stood to have worked at a sa­lon in Chea­dle.

Demi Paige Grewer, from Bur­nage, suf­fered fa­tal in­juries in the col­li­sion near Wilm­slow town cen­tre in the early hours of Sun­day morn­ing.

The 18-year-old, who had at­tended Pri­est­nall School in Heaton Mersey, is be­lieved to have been on her way home from a birth­day cel­e­bra­tion.

Demi, a trainee hair­dresser, was in a white Vaux­hall Mokka trav­el­ling along the A34 Bir­rell Way, which po­lice said crashed at the round­about near the TrustFord garage.

Her fam­ily has now re­leased a state­ment, in which her loved ones speak of her ex­cite­ment ‘start­ing her adult life’.

It reads: “Our beau­ti­ful daugh­ter and lov­ing sis­ter, taken too soon.

“Demi had an in­fec­tious laugh and was so bub­bly. She loved life, her job and gave it ev­ery­thing.

“She had just turned 18 and couldn’t wait to start her adult life. We beam with pride as we see what a won­der­ful young lady she was.

“Our hearts break as we have to say good­bye. Dar­ren says she al­ways rang ‘daddy day care’ for her lifts. She was truly loved by her friends and fam­ily and will be missed by ev­ery­one.”

Demi is un­der­stood to have worked at the Pepita J Hair­dress­ing sa­lon in Chea­dle as a trainee. Tributes were also paid to the pop­u­lar teen on so­cial me­dia fol­low­ing the tragic news of her death.

Amiee Mckie wrote on Face­book: “You were such a lovely girl, you made my week­end more en­joy­able when I’d see you. You will be deeply missed.”

Char­lotte West posted: “You were one of the most gen­uine, amaz­ing peo­ple I have ever met, putting smiles on ev­ery­one’s faces. I’m ut­terly gut­ted that you’re gone. I love and will miss you so much, RIP Demi Grewer.”

Court­ney Cun­ning­ham wrote: “So heart­bro­ken to even be writ­ing this, RIP Demi, you were the most hap­pi­est, bub­bli­est girl I have ever had the plea­sure of call­ing my friend.”

Po­lice, were called at around 3.30am to Bir­rell Way at the junc­tion with Manch­ester Road. Demi was rushed to hos­pi­tal, but died of her in­juries.

A spokesman for Cheshire Po­lice said her fam­ily is be­ing sup­ported by spe­cial­ist of­fi­cers.

A 21-year-old man from Manch­ester ar­rested on sus­pi­cion of drink driv­ing at the scene has been re­leased un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion.
