Residents invited to food hub open day
RESIDENTS are invited to find out about the food growing in their area at an open day at Woodbank Park Nursery this weekend.
Run by The Kindling Trust, the nursery is tucked away near the western edge of Woodbank Memorial Park and is home to a ‘thriving food and growing hub and joins up community gardening with commercial organic food production’.
The nursery is home to a collection of organisations, working together to create a local food hub, and the open day will provide a chance for people to find out more about plans for the future of the site and ideas on how it can be used by the community.
Residents can also take part in activities including woodwork, bee keeping and community gardening sessions.
There will be tours of the site, homemade cakes, seed sowing, potato picking and a snail race.
Corrina Low from The Kindling Trust said: “The nursery is just a great place to be. It’s a mixture of nature, wildlife, community activities and food production. We want the nursery to become a place that local residents can enjoy and feel part of.”
The open day will take place on Saturday (September 9) between 9am and 2pm. Visit feedingmanchester.org. uk or call 818 8384 for more information.
