Planning comes to fruition

Stockport Express - - Motors -

Wilmslow Running Club’s Sharon Johnstone ran the perfect race – moderate start followed by steady build up and fast finish – that saw her home in a decent 1.31.53 , ahead of Raquel Gutierrez-Abad (1.32.22) in second place, and Barnsley’s Gail Colville who was third in 1.39.05.

Local Club Bramhall Runners, meanwhile, were delighted to cheer home their athlete Nicola Lloyd who clocked 1.39.42 in fourth.

Further back in the large field, Stockport County Supporters Cooperative member Des Greene was winning a battle of his own.

Des was raising money for the Cooperative’s Guardian Account, and whilst he was not expecting to trouble the leaders, he had a modest goal of his own, along with raising piles of money, namely to beat last year’s time of 2.26.

Des found the off road portion of the race a real challenge this year, especially the Northenden part, but he battled bravely on crossing the line in a very creditable 2.12.23in 249th spot.

Des expressed his satisfaction at the race, and the Cooperative are very proud and grateful for his efforts.
