Seven Miles out
WE are very privileged to have a wonderful community of lovely people running regular events here at Seven Miles Out which bring a unique atmosphere to the centre.
Two of these people are Kevin Birchall and Linda Yarwood who run Recordsville Social taking place this Friday. Kevin and Linda are vinyl collectors who travel all over the country to DJ at events and gigs and have played for St Etienne, The Primitives and Teenage Fan Club. The couple like nothing better than to share their passion for music which makes their night a must for all pop fans and vinyl junkies.
This month Recordsville Social in October presents a John Peel Special featuring some of his favourite bands such as The Raincoats, Mo dettes, Girls At Our Best, Buzzcocks, Twa Toots, Au Pairs, Gang Of Four Marine Girls, The Slits and including a special DJ set from Helen McCookeryBook from Peel session faves The Chefs and Helen and the Horns.
If you are a turntable trainspotter this is a night you will absolutely love and there’s plenty of room to strut your stuff too!
Bring fellow vinyl enthusiasts and make a night of it. Join us this Friday from 8pm.
This Saturday afternoon we are delighted to host a showcase from STOMP - Stockport Music project. STOMP is a great initiative run by the wonderful Kamey McNamara from Community Music which gives young people aged 11-16 from our town valuable opportunities to take part in free music workshops to learn, play and perform music.
Join us from 1pm for a great afternoon in Seven Miles Out supporting these talented young people, some of whom will be performing in public for the very first time. Pop in and enjoy a brew or something a little stronger.
This Saturday night the mighty Dr Uke present a fantastic night of live music with ‘Full House’ featuring Stockport’s premier Ukulele bands under one roof! The stellar line-up for the evening is No JoKe – folk and pop, The Crukes – acoustic skiffle, folk, rock and roots and Dr. Uke – no frills, old school rock, R& B, garage – with ukuleles!
Full House is always a chilled out evening for music lovers and performers alike. Please join us from 7.30pm and enjoy a great night of live entertainment for free. What more could you ask for!
