Rit­son in Mur­ray’s sights

JOE Mur­ray is tar­get­ing a Bri­tish ti­tle fight with Lewis Rit­son af­ter he was vic­to­ri­ous over the week­end.

Joe, who trains with his brother John at the Mur­ray Ma­chines gym in Red­dish, picked up an eighth round stop­page against Felix Ven­ganayi at Vic­to­ria Ware­house in Manch­ester.

It was part of a UK vs Africa event that was tak­ing place, with Mur­ray’s vic­tory help­ing team UK pick up the over­all win by three and a half points to one and a half.

The win for Mur­ray has seen him ex­tend his pro­fes­sional record to 23 wins and just two de­feats, with those de­feats com­ing against re­cent world ti­tle chal­lenger Liam Walsh.

Mur­ray is on an eight fight win­ning streak, hav­ing also beaten the likes of Matty Fa­gan and Rashid Kassem over the past 12 months.

Also vic­to­ri­ous on the card at Vic­to­ria Ware­house were the likes of Bi­lal Rehman, Mark Thomp­son, Jor­dan McCorry, Marc Laech, Jack Cullen, Lukas Ndafoluma and Ross Cook­sey, while Ben Sheedy was held to a con­tro­ver­sial draw against Barend van Rooyen.
