While playing in a Ladies Stableford Competition at Mellor & Townscliffe Golf Club Past Lady Captain (2006) and Past Lady President (2017) Pat Phillips obtained a hole in one on the135 yard par 3 hole. The green is in a bowl so cannot be seen from the tee so unfortunately she didn’t see it go in but knew it had reached the green.

On reaching the green she searched for her ball and noticed something white poking out of the hole and on inspection found it was her ball in the hole!

Much excitement followed, her playing partner Jane Bennett was dancing around saying she had never played with someone who had scored a hole in one.

Pat’s husband John and his friend Steve were actually waiting to play the hole so saw the whole scenario. This is Pat’s third hole in one two at Mellor and one at Telford.

Unfortunately the bar was closed!
