Stockport Times East - - YOUR VIEWS - Tony Fitch Offerton

THANK goodness one of our political parties is taking mental health seriously.

Well done to Nick Clegg and the Lib Dems for stating clearly, in their Five Priorities for Five Years, that treating mental illness should be as much of a priority as treating physical illness.

This is a civilised, sensible, evidencebased policy of exactly the sort a modern nation such as the UK should have. Current mental health provision is outrageously inadequate, and betrays the one in four of us who will suffer from mental health issues during our lives.

All politicians should have the compassion and sense of justice shown by the LibDems in this document so that everybody, not just the rich, can access mental health support.
