A place in the sun is right up your street
INTERNATIONAL property exhibition A Place in the Sun Live is all set to hit Manchester Central in a bid to match demand from a British public back in love with the idea of overseas home ownership.
The three-day exhibition running from March 13 to March 15 promises a wealth of expertise, advice and inspiration for anyone considering buying abroad.
There will be more than 100 exhibitors promoting properties for sale, with favourite destinations such as Spain, France, Portugal, Italy, Florida, Greece and Turkey all on display.
You can also speak to experts who know these markets and can tell you everything you need to know about the properties and the prices for the locations.
With recent financially tough times for many, few people have been in a position to consider buying their own place in the sun, but an improving UK economy coupled with a strong pound have come together to show buyers just what their money translates into when looking at properties abroad.
Money certainly goes a long way in a country like Spain for example, where prices have crashed and the pound is 30 per cent stronger than it was three years ago. There are currently three-bedroom houses with pools for less than the average local semi-detached. It’s an attractive option for escaping UK winters, having a sunny holiday base for part of the year and a viable retirement option.
It is still a buyer’s market although it does pay to do your research and A Place in the Sun Live is a great place to start. The overseas property show launched off the back of the Channel 4 series of the same name back in 2005 and has grown year-onyear.
The exhibition offers the opportunity to speak to specialist overseas property lawyers and advisers who understand the intricacies of the purchase process and provides essential information for anyone serious about buying.
Editor of A Place in the Sun magazine Liz Rowlinson, said: “Our No.1 tip for prospective buyers abroad is, as you would in the UK, make sure you get your own independent legal adviser on board before you buy your place. It sounds an obvious thing to say but you’d be surprised at the number of people who start the purchase process without being fully prepared.”
The exhibition will also see live appearances from TV presenters Amanda Lamb, Jasmine Harman, Jonnie Irwin and Laura Hamilton, who will be letting you into the secrets of their filming schedules, plus free-to-attend seminars and Q&A sessions where you are guaranteed an informative and inspiring opportunity to quiz experts from around the world.
