Danny’s the real McCoy
DANNY McCoy shattered the Ho u l d s w o r t h course record on the way to winning the four-round Medallion Trophy.
The 21-year-old, twohandicapper has been a member at Houldsworth for the past nine years and shot a fantastic round of 62 to shatter the previous course record set by Gary Hill some 20 years ago.
He posted nine birdies and an eagle two on the 18th with his only flaw coming on the third hole with a double-bogey six.
With rounds of 74, 74 and 70 it gave him a fourround total of 278.
McCoy said: “I drove the ball superbly on the day but my wedge game and putter really made the record possible in a very solid performance.
“I have now won six ‘majors’ at Houldsworth. two Order of Merits and my next aim is to turn pro and play on a small circuit and see how I get on.”
