Festive feel is in the air for festival fun
ASEASONAL threeAday event will bring music, dance, com - edy and theatre to Stockport town centre.
Festive Fringe runs from tomorrow (November 28) until Sunday at Stockport Market Place and has been organised by the team behind this summer’s Stockport Fringe Festival.
Festive Fringe will capitalise on the success of the original event and also contain specialist markets.
Joe Barratt, one of the organisers, from Seven Miles Out Arts Centre, on Stockport Market Place, said: “The Fringe Festival in August brought the community together and created a great atmosphere with its mix of shopping and street entertainment.
“We’re hoping to repeat that with the Festive Fringe, celebrating the countdown to Christmas in Stockport Old Town.”
On the Friday there will be the regular monthly Foodie Friday event with a Christmas lights switch-on performed by the panto cast of Cinderella at The Plaza.
People going to the event are encouraged to wear Christmas jumpers. There will also be fire jugglers and live music including jazz, traditional Irish and Stockport Ukulele players.
On the Saturday there will be brass band music, free mulled wine and mince pies, and Seven Miles Out will host craft workshops in the day and a comedy night in the evening featuring Alfie Moore.
Attractions on Saturday include a Victorian circus act that will give visitors the chance to try circus skills, sticky tape sculptures to view and acoustic music at Seven Miles Out from midday to 4pm.
There will be stalls from Stockport Market traders, the Vintage Village, the Teenage Market and the Handmade Market. Robinsons Brewery have also created Stockport Old Town Festive Ale for the event.
