STOCKPORT’S Radio Station Pure 107.8FM is on a quest to find the best musical talent in the borough as Stockport’s Finest returns for another year. Living For The Weekend presenter Paul Holloway explains more.
STOCKPORT’S Finest is Pure’s annual competition for bands and singer-songwriters.
Polls close on Friday, November 27, at 2pm so you need to be quick if you have not yet cast your vote. This is this year’s shortlist in our grand final: 1. Josh Newton 2. Kolega 3. Lowrise 4. Mr Meaner 5. Neil McCluskey This week I’m looking at Neil McCluskey.
Originally from the Lake District, Neil discovered his talents for writing at an early age, performing in local garage bands. After travelling the world, he settled in Cheadle and wrote songs and played lead guitar with various bands in the Manchester indie scene.
Now a solo artist, Neil has recently worked with top UK music producers, including Steve Belgrave, who has worked with the Rolling Stones, Beady Eye and U2.
His new single Touch The Sun was produced by Pete Maher, who has worked with U2, The Killers and Jack White. Find out more at www. neilmccluskey.com
Every day we’ve been looking at a different act on Pure 107.8FM, posting details on facebook.com/ pureradio and twitter @ pure1078 where you can find out more about them.
It’s your last chance to vote by emailing finest@ pureradio.org.uk with your favourite act in the subject bar – multiple votes will be disqualified.
Dave Stearn will announce the winner on Stockport’s Drive Home on Friday.
More details on all the acts in the final are on our homepage, www. pureradio.org.uk.
