STOCK­PORT’S Ra­dio Sta­tion Pure 107.8FM is on a quest to find the best mu­si­cal tal­ent in the bor­ough as Stock­port’s Finest re­turns for another year. Liv­ing For The Week­end pre­sen­ter Paul Hol­loway ex­plains more.

STOCK­PORT’S Finest is Pure’s an­nual com­pe­ti­tion for bands and singer-song­writ­ers.

Polls close on Fri­day, Novem­ber 27, at 2pm so you need to be quick if you have not yet cast your vote. This is this year’s short­list in our grand fi­nal: 1. Josh New­ton 2. Kolega 3. Lowrise 4. Mr Meaner 5. Neil McCluskey This week I’m look­ing at Neil McCluskey.

Orig­i­nally from the Lake Dis­trict, Neil dis­cov­ered his tal­ents for writ­ing at an early age, per­form­ing in lo­cal garage bands. After trav­el­ling the world, he set­tled in Chea­dle and wrote songs and played lead gui­tar with var­i­ous bands in the Manch­ester in­die scene.

Now a solo artist, Neil has re­cently worked with top UK mu­sic pro­duc­ers, in­clud­ing Steve Bel­grave, who has worked with the Rolling Stones, Beady Eye and U2.
