COACH PARK PLAN WILL HELP

IN re­sponse to your ar­ti­cle ‘Coach Park Plan Anger’ I would like to of­fer the fol­low­ing ob­ser­va­tions.

First and fore­most, not ev­ery­one is angry about this de­vel­op­ment. I and many other lo­cal res­i­dents be­lieve that any­thing the school (Chea­dle Hulme) can do to get its traf­fic – coaches, par­ents and stu­dents – off the roads as quickly as pos­si­ble is desperately needed.

The pro­posed coach drop-off and col­lec­tion area will in fact re­duce the traf­fic prob­lems.

At present there are 12 coaches trans­port­ing pupils to and from school. Cur­rently there is only park­ing space for eight, so where do the other four coaches wait to pick up pupils?

On the streets. Yes you can walk down the roads of Gill­bent, Hill­top and High­field any school day af­ter­noon and see coaches parked up, some­times with en­gines still run­ning, wait­ing to go into the school to col­lect pupils at the end of the day.
