Station’s search for best County goal
IRISH International Footballer Stephanie Roche made headlines worldwide recently when her stunning goal for the Irish Women’s National League team Peamount United was put on a shortlist of three for FIFA’s Puskas Award for the best goal of 2014.
She is up against goals scored at the World Cup in Brazil by Manchester United’s Robin van Persie and Real Madrid’s James Rodríguez.
Stockport’s Radio station Pure 107.8FM is looking for the best goal scored by a Stockport County player in 2014 and they want you to get involved.
Pure County presenter Simon Kelsey tells us more... FROM Scott Spencer’s outlandish half-volley from the corner of the penalty area to get the Hatters back in to their FA Cup tie against Chester in October, to Phil Jevons’ cheeky 40-yard chip over Jas Singh against Solihull in February – there have been some stunning goals scored by County players this year.
It’s an honour and a privilege to have been involved in bringing them all to you live on Pure County through Jon Keighren’s outstanding commentary.
This December we’re searching for the greatest goal scored by a player in blue and white this calendar year – and we need your help.
Whether it was a dazzling solo effort, a well-worked team goal or just a spectacular finish, we want your nominations.
Send them in to us at firstname.lastname@example.org between now and Saturday, December 20, – we’ll compile a shortlist and the top three will be published on the Pure Radio Facebook page so listeners can vote for their favourite.
The winner will be announced on Pure County on January 10, 2015, two days before FIFA announce who has won the Puskas Award.
Finally a reminder that Stockport County FC and Pure 107.8FM are working in partnership to support The Wellspring, Stockport’s charity for the homeless and disadvantaged.
