Gorvins in dementia awareness campaign
STAFF at a Stockport solicitors have been learning about one of the UK’s biggest health issues.
Employees at Gorvins, based at Tiviot Dale, Stockport town centre, took part in the Dementia Friends campaign.
It has been set up by Public Health England and the Alzheimer’s Society to help participants gain a greater understanding of dementia.
Currently it is estimated more than 670,000 people suffer from dementia in the UK.
G orvins now regularly hold seminars for people who have the condition or have been affected by it.
Tasoula Crosby, from the company, says many of the clients she works with either live with dementia or care for someone with it.
She said: “Often people with dementia are scared about going into new situations, so Gorvins employees are now able to help clients feel comfortable in that environment.
“It also means more clients come and see us about what we do, as they are less afraid to do so.”
Coun John Pantall, executive member for health, said: “We strongly encourage Stockport businesses both small and large to become Dementia Friends. The benefits to all are wide-ranging.”
