West End star backs toy appeal
THE Stockport Times and Express/ BiG Storage Active Toy Appeal now has even more star appeal.
The toy collection was launched by comedy actor John Thomson and backed by Coronation Street’s Sue Nicholls.
They have now been joined by West End star Carley Stenson, who dropped in to add her support.
Carley is a patron of JUMP, one of the charities that will benefit from the appeal.
She said: “It’s a huge honour to work with Big Storage on their Active Toy Appeal. The toys form part of the Christmas memories for children we host who are challenged with life-threatening conditions and disabilities.
“For those families this is an event that brings some much happiness during difficult times.
The toy appeal is looking for new presents that are unwrapped for children aged up to 16.
These can be donated at BiG Storage on Stanley Green Business Park, Handforth Dean, at the SAS Daniels office on Greek Street in Stockport town centre, and at the Gascoigne Halman branches in Heaton Moor, Bramhall and Poynton.
The gifts will then be kept at BiG Storage before being forwarded the charities that include The Stockport Early Intervention & Family Centre, Children Services Stockport, and Together Trust in Cheadle.
Appeal co-ordinator Paul Whittaker said: “This year has since an increase in the number of families from all backgrounds who are below the poverty line and often through no fault of their own cannot even afford the basics.”
The deadline for donations is 5pm tomorrow. For any further information go to the BiG Storage website.
