West End star backs toy ap­peal

THE Stock­port Times and Ex­press/ BiG Stor­age Ac­tive Toy Ap­peal now has even more star ap­peal.

The toy col­lec­tion was launched by com­edy ac­tor John Thom­son and backed by Corona­tion Street’s Sue Ni­cholls.

They have now been joined by West End star Car­ley Sten­son, who dropped in to add her support.

Car­ley is a pa­tron of JUMP, one of the char­i­ties that will ben­e­fit from the ap­peal.

She said: “It’s a huge hon­our to work with Big Stor­age on their Ac­tive Toy Ap­peal. The toys form part of the Christ­mas mem­o­ries for chil­dren we host who are chal­lenged with life-threat­en­ing con­di­tions and dis­abil­i­ties.

“For those fam­i­lies this is an event that brings some much hap­pi­ness dur­ing dif­fi­cult times.

The toy ap­peal is look­ing for new presents that are un­wrapped for chil­dren aged up to 16.

Th­ese can be do­nated at BiG Stor­age on Stan­ley Green Business Park, Hand­forth Dean, at the SAS Daniels of­fice on Greek Street in Stock­port town cen­tre, and at the Gas­coigne Hal­man branches in Heaton Moor, Bramhall and Poyn­ton.

The gifts will then be kept at BiG Stor­age be­fore be­ing for­warded the char­i­ties that in­clude The Stock­port Early In­ter­ven­tion & Fam­ily Cen­tre, Chil­dren Ser­vices Stock­port, and To­gether Trust in Chea­dle.

Ap­peal co-or­di­na­tor Paul Whit­taker said: “This year has since an in­crease in the num­ber of fam­i­lies from all back­grounds who are be­low the poverty line and of­ten through no fault of their own can­not even af­ford the ba­sics.”
