Attempted murder charge
A 29-year-old man appeared in private at Perth Sheriff Court on Monday afternoon on a series of charges, including one of attempted murder.
Stephen Bertie faced a total of seven charges, three involving alleged knife attacks.
The accused, of Sydney Crescent, Auchterarder, had his case continued for further inquiries and was remanded in custody meantime.
It is alleged that on August 25, at a neighbour’s house at 18 Sydney Crescent, he assaulted James Irvine by striking him on the head and body with a blade, to his severe injury, to the danger of his life - and attempted to murder him.
He is also alleged to have struck Marion Irvine on the hand with the knife, to her injury and disfigurement, and then struck Stewart Henderson on the body with the weapon, also to his injury and disfigurement.
A fourth charge alleges that he stole a mobile phone and a bottle of alcohol before spitting on Sgt Ian Lennox’s face at Perth police headquarters, again on August 25.
It is also claimed that he resisted arrest by three officers in Sydney Crescent.
A final charge alleges that he shouted and swore at the house, made violent threats and behaved in a threatening and aggressive manner.
