Artist Janet’s Strath in­spired work on show in Ed­in­burgh

The work of lo­cal artist Janet Mel­rose is be­ing ex­hib­ited in Ed­in­burgh from the end of the month.

The new ex­hi­bi­tion of se­lected pieces en­ti­tled‘Earth­works’is on at the Open Eye Gallery in Ed­in­burgh from Septem­ber 22 un­til Oc­to­ber 9.

Janet told the Her­ald:“The paint­ings which form this show come from walks I have made in Perthshire and in par­tic­u­lar the area close to where I live. I have be­come very in­ter­ested in the Ne­olithic and Bronze Age sites af­ter read­ing Kath­leen Jamie’s book Sight­lines and vis­ited the area in Strat­hearn, which Kath­leen de­scribed in her book.

“The Open Eye Gallery con­tacted me al­most two years ago ask­ing me to ex­hibit. I knew that it would be a great op­por­tu­nity, al­low­ing me to de­velop my work fur­ther with the gallery’s sup­port.”
