Station makes top 100 list

Roseanna Cunningham MSP, Member of the Scottish Parliament for Perthshire South and Kinross-shire, has congratulated all those responsible for seeing Gleneagles Station in her constituency included in a list of the 100 best railway stations in Britain.

The list has been produced by Simon Jenkins, author and founder of the Railway Heritage Trust, whose new book, Britain’s 100 Best Railway Stations, has just been published.

Ms Cunningham said: “Well done to everyone who has contributed to helping Gleneagles make this list of the top 100 railway stations in Britain.

“To make the top 100 out of more than 2,500 others really does take commitment and dedication and I am pleased to add my praise to the recognition that inclusion on this list brings.

“Perth Station is just outside my constituency - indeed the railway line forms the boundary but I am delighted to see that it too has made the list.

“Along with Rannoch and Pitlochry that means that 40% of the Scottish stations in the top 100 are from the Perth and Kinross area, a figure that underlines how wonderful this area is as a place to live, work and do business.”

Historic Gleneagles Station, which was refurbished in 2014, has been listed as one of the top stations in the UK
