Months of work on Crieff streets
Gas mains project
Gas distribution company SGN will be carrying out works in the Strath capital next month.
As part of a wider £930,000 project in the area SGN will shortly begin work to upgrade its network in the A85 Perth Road area of Crieff.
The essential work involves the replacement of old, metal gas mains with new plastic pipe.
Following discussions with Perth and Kinross Council, the first section of the project will start on Monday, January 8, and last for approximately 10 weeks.
Work will begin in Perth Road at its junction with Callum’s Hill and continue south-west to the junction with Dollerie Terrace.
Temporary traffic lights will be in place for the duration of this phase and will move along the road as work progresses.
A spokesperson for SGN said: “To ensure continued traffic flow in Perth Road we’ll be temporarily closing its junctions with Murray Lane and Rectory Road when our work reaches these points.
“We’ll also be working in Ochil View Gardens between its junctions with Perth Road and Hazel Avenue for approximately eight weeks.
“So we can complete this project as soon as possible, we’ll have multiple teams working in the area.”
The company will also be working in Ancaster Road from January 22 for three weeks and Strathearn Terrace for four weeks. The road will be closed temporarily but access for residents will be maintained.
Work in Ferntower Road and Anthony Place will last around eight weeks. Ferntower Road will be closed between its junctions with Connaught Terrace and Victoria Terrace. Access for residents will be maintained.
The last section of work will take place in Connaught Terrace and Hope Place and will last for around four weeks.
