Months of work on Cri­eff streets

Gas dis­tri­bu­tion company SGN will be car­ry­ing out works in the Strath cap­i­tal next month.

As part of a wider £930,000 project in the area SGN will shortly be­gin work to up­grade its net­work in the A85 Perth Road area of Cri­eff.

The es­sen­tial work in­volves the re­place­ment of old, metal gas mains with new plas­tic pipe.

Fol­low­ing dis­cus­sions with Perth and Kin­ross Coun­cil, the first sec­tion of the project will start on Mon­day, Jan­uary 8, and last for ap­prox­i­mately 10 weeks.

Work will be­gin in Perth Road at its junc­tion with Callum’s Hill and con­tinue south-west to the junc­tion with Dol­lerie Ter­race.

Tem­po­rary traf­fic lights will be in place for the du­ra­tion of this phase and will move along the road as work pro­gresses.

A spokesper­son for SGN said: “To en­sure con­tin­ued traf­fic flow in Perth Road we’ll be tem­po­rar­ily clos­ing its junc­tions with Mur­ray Lane and Rec­tory Road when our work reaches these points.

“We’ll also be work­ing in Ochil View Gar­dens be­tween its junc­tions with Perth Road and Hazel Av­enue for ap­prox­i­mately eight weeks.

“So we can com­plete this project as soon as pos­si­ble, we’ll have mul­ti­ple teams work­ing in the area.”

The company will also be work­ing in An­caster Road from Jan­uary 22 for three weeks and Strat­hearn Ter­race for four weeks. The road will be closed tem­po­rar­ily but ac­cess for res­i­dents will be main­tained.

Work in Fern­tower Road and An­thony Place will last around eight weeks. Fern­tower Road will be closed be­tween its junc­tions with Con­naught Ter­race and Vic­to­ria Ter­race. Ac­cess for res­i­dents will be main­tained.

The last sec­tion of work will take place in Con­naught Ter­race and Hope Place and will last for around four weeks.
