Hunt on as thieves steal Land Rover from firm
Witnesses are being sought following the theft of a distinctive 4x4 vehicle belonging to a Strath business.
The white Land Rover Defender 90, with Gourlay Events emblazoned on the sides, was stolen from the firm’s unit at Crioch Business Park in Duchlage Road around 10.30pm on Sunday.
Owner Alistair Gourlay is not holding out much hope for its recovery and believes the thieves knew exactly what they were doing.
“I would think it’s miles away by now,”he told the Herald.“It could be anywhere in the world.
“It’s really annoying as it had just been painted and had a new back door.
“It will be incredibly sellable.”
The thieves broke into the warehouse at the site near Market Park and then into the key safe.
Their vehicle has been caught on CCTV but they were in a car with no registration plate.
Alistair added:“They also took keys for a Luton van we have so we are having to fit new locks to that.
“The Defender stands out. It’s shiny, shiny white, and very clean. It has writing on the two front doors and lights on the roof.
“We had taken the opportunity to have it done up while there are no events on but, now people are beginning to be back out and about, this sort of thing seems to be on the rise again.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said enquiries are ongoing.
Anyone who may have seen something can call the police on the non emergency number, 101.
