Plenty of podcast players faff about with managing downloads – and Overcast does this too, with smart playlists and filtering. Mostly, though, this app’s concerned with improving what you hear. You get options to remove gaps and speed things up without distortion, and a ‘voice boost’ for talky shows. This latest update adds queues, a widget, notifications and 3D Touch support, and it’s still free. Can’t stomach little banner ads? Stump up £8.99 for premium.
