Caring for your lawn
Give grass a little TLC to get it looking healthy
keep it hydrated
Water your lawn with a sprinkler during dry spells and mow grass every week during the spring and summer. Walk alternately up and down with the mower for smart stripes.
lift dandelions and their roots with ease from your lawn without disturbing too much turf with the nifty Speedy Weedy, £19.98, Greenfingers.com
In the warmer months, aerate your lawn with a spiked rolling aerator, £34.95, lawnsmith. It
allows rain to penetrate the grass easily and encourages deep roots for a thicker lawn.
In the autumn, use a rake and a leaf blower (shown right), to get rid of any leaves, otherwise your grass may die and look patchy.
choose a faux lawn for easy maintenance or a grass-effect area if you’ve got a balcony or terrace. We’re big fans of the oasis faux grass, £9.99 per sq m, Grass Direct. It won’t fade in sunlight and can be cleaned with a hose – it’s pet friendly, too.
