I’d like to paint over wallpaper rather than strip it off the wall – is this OK?

Painting emulsion directly onto wallpaper can cause it to blister, but there’s a new product that seals the wallpaper first, creating a surface that’s ready to paint for a great finish. First, check the wallpaper is properly stuck down, remove everything from the wall and fill any holes. Stir a can of Zinsser Wallpaper Cover Up, £25 per 2.5 ltr, B&Q, thoroughly and pour some into a paint tray, then apply one coat to the walls using overlapping strokes. Allow this to dry completely (wait a minimum of two hours) before painting with your chosen emulsion.
