About Me I’m Emily Duffield, 26, a marketing executive for JFM Interiors in Harrogate. I live with my fiancé, Tom, 30, and our two cats, Harry and Bella, in a three-bedroom, rustic country cottage in Thirsk, North Yorkshire. We bought it in January 2015.

My challenge The room had a very bold wallpaper that wasn’t to my taste and it felt overpowering against the neutral walls.

My wish list I liked the idea of a feature paper with otherwise plain walls, but it was important to me that the room had a more balanced colour palette and was decorated in the retro-inspired shades I love.
