RED-HOT LUKAKU IN SHOP WINDOW
ROMELU LUKAKU will be playing for his future at Goodison this afternoon.
The Premier League’s top scorer with 24 goals aims to put on a show to convince Chelsea to fork out massive money to resign him this summer.
Everton this month slapped a world record £100million price tag on the Belgian, who today comes up against Diego Costa – the man he hopes to replace at Stamford Bridge.
It is a battle that Chelsea manager Antonio Conte expects 19-goal Costa to win for his team.
Lukaku (above) joined Chelsea in 2011 and had loan spells at West Brom and Everton before the Merseysiders bought him in 2014 for £28m. Conte declined to say if Lukaku, 23, is being lined up for a return to Chelsea if Costa, 28, (right) opts for a big-money move to China. The Italian said: “Lukaku is a good player who has scored a lot of goals. “But Diego is a very important player and in this part of the season he will be decisive for us. “We are talking about two great strikers but, for me, Diego is the best striker in the world.” Conte backed his battlers to clinch a vital win today. He said: “We have a lot of warriors. “It’s great to have talent but I like it a lot when we have a warrior during a game above all, the players with talent work hard.”
