Anderson too hot to handle
JIMMY ANDERSON bowled England into a commanding position in the Fourth Test against South Africa with a devastating four-wicket burst yesterday.
Inspired by bowling from the James Anderson End, re-named in his honour at Old Trafford just before this game, the fast bowler had a fabulous day to remember.
“I didn’t feel any pressure because of the name, but it just seemed like I couldn’t bowl badly today,” said Anderson after his 4-33 display.
“The atmosphere was fantastic today and I was thrilled to get a few wickets.”
South Africa were 220-9 at the close of the second day, a lead of 142 runs for England.
Jonny Bairstow was out for 99 when England batted, and he said: “I have joined a special club I suppose. I was pretty annoyed at the time when I got out, but it’s a good feeling to help us get into a strong position in the match.”
