Get ahead of Santa

Sunday Herald Life - - TRAVEL FEATURE -

IF, like me, you’ve already started to warn your kids about the perils of getting on Santa’s naughty list in a desperate attempt to get them to behave, then you will know that the festive season is fast approaching.

And if you are planning on getting away for either Christmas or Hogmanay, it is important that you don’t leave it too late when considering your options, as many hotels are already publicising their Christmas and Hogmanay packages.

If you don’t want to get left at home with the all the cooking, cleaning, washing up and general mayhem that comes with the season, then now is the time to be doing something about it.

There are few places in the country that can provide a more picturesque yuletide scene than rural Perthshire, and the stunning Victorian architecture of the Atholl Palace Hotel can offer the fairytale backdrop.

But there’s much more to Atholl Palace’s Christmas and Hogmanay packages than the beauty of the surroundings, with all the entertainment you would ever need to make sure that you are both merry and bright.

The three-night Christmas package includes whisky tasting, cocktails, mulled wine, your Christmas lunch, mince pies, Boxing Day brunch, jazz and of course, Christmas carols to set the atmosphere.

All of this comes in at just £499 per adult and £205 per child.

If you do like to spend Christmas at home though, then their Hogmanay escape is the perfect way to see out the year with a bang.

With ceilidh dancing, a black-tie ball, a day trip, buck’s fizz brunch and of course, fireworks to welcome 2017 in style, you’ll be hard-pushed to find a better way to bring in the bells.

A three-night fully inclusive Hogmanay package comes in at £750 per adult and £280 per child.

RELAX: Let the Atholl Palace Hotel supply all the festive food, drink and atmosphere.
