Living The Dream 9pm, Sky1

Sunday Herald Life - - TELEVISION & RADIO -

C REATED by Mick Ford (who previously wrote William And Mary and the David Tennant series Single Father), this culture-clash comedy series benefits from having a hugely watchable pair of lead actors in Philip Glenister and the great Lesley Sharp. They play husband and wife Mal and Jen Pemberton, who, along with their reluctant teenage children (Rosie Day and Brenock O’Connor, aka Game Of Thrones’ Jon-Snow-stabbing Olly), have upped sticks from their home in rainy Yorkshire to build a new life across the ocean in Florida, where Mal has bought a trailer park, renting out RVs under the endless blue skies and sunshine. Trouble is, he’s bought the place without even seeing it, and their dream begins to crumble as they set eyes on the site, and begin to get to know the various eccentrics who make up their clientele, a salty bunch of folks – including park busybody Aiden (Will & Grace’s Leslie Jordan) and ex-wrestler Troy (played by real life ex-wrestler Kevin Nash) – whose idea of a good time involves barbecued alligator, fresh from the swamps.
