H UW Ed­wards presents the an­nual Fes­ti­val of Re­mem­brance, broad­cast from the Royal Al­bert Hall in London. This year’s event fea­tures per­for­mances by Me­lanie C, Emeli Sande, Tom Odell, Al­fie Boe and Les­ley Gar­rett, as well dis­plays by The Queen’s Colour Squadron, mark­ing their 75th an­niver­sary, and The Band Of HM Royal Marines. Tonight’s cer­e­mony will also mark the cen­te­nary of the Bat­tle Of Pass­chen­daele; 100 years since the for­ma­tion of the Com­mon­wealth War Graves Com­mis­sion; the 75th an­niver­sary of the Bat­tle Of El Alamein; and Dame Vera Lynn’s 100th birth­day. There will be a film show­ing the work of the Bri­tish Mil­i­tary to sup­port and pro­vide aid to com­mu­ni­ties af­fected by Hur­ri­canes Irma and Maria. Be­fore con­clud­ing with the fa­mous shower of pop­pies, the fes­ti­val will also pay trib­ute to the work of the emer­gency ser­vices and off-duty mem­bers of the mil­i­tary in re­spond­ing to the ter­ror­ist at­tacks in the UK this year.
