Thursday Donald Trump: Scotland’s President – 9pm, BBC One Trump: An American Dream – 9pm, Channel 4
HAPPY Trumpday. One year ago today, we were waking up to the news (or still awake, having been sitting up all night chewing the carpet as it became clear) that Donald Trump had been elected as 45th President of the United States. Marking the date, the BBC’s Glenn Campbell presents this documentary, examining “Scotland’s difficult relationship with Trump”. The film explores the country’s previous experiences of the man and his methods, as exemplified by his golf development at Menie in Aberdeenshire – previously the subject of the brilliant documentary You’ve Been Trumped, the current state of play around that project comes in for particular scrutiny here. Enlightening stuff, with contributions from, among others, locals neighbouring the course, the great photographer Harry Benson, and sundry Scottish politicians. Meanwhile, Channel 4 rolls out An American Dream, the first in a four-part profile of Trump and his rise to power, stuffed with archive footage, and featuring contributions from friends and not-so-friends.
