Victory is one to remember for McCart
JAMIE McCART got used to beating Rangers while playing for Celtic in the youth leagues.
However, his win over the Ibrox men with Inverness on Friday night, his first in a senior game, will be long remembered as the best day of his career so far, due to the fact it took Richie Foran’s side off the bottom of the Premiership – and it was the Highland club’s 1000th game.
McCart, on loan at the Tulloch Stadium until the end of this season, was superb in the 2-1 win which was desperately needed by his new club. The defender hardly put a foot wrong and was delighted to play his part.
“It was just what we needed,” McCart said. “The performances have been there and it was just results we needed to get off the bottom of the table. The way we did it, against a big team like Rangers – it gives us a massive boost. We’re now looking forward to the game against Celtic [on Wednesday night].
“I’ve played Rangers at youth level – I think there’s a wee difference in quality! It was a brilliant experience on Friday but the main thing was to get the win. It’s all about trying to climb up the table. We know we can do it if we keep putting in performances like that.
“Even before I came in, the manager was saying the performances had been there all season, it was just the results. But we’re starting to get the results now. It definitely doesn’t have the feel of a club in relegation trouble.”
