Sun­day Her­ald up for top awards

THE Sun­day Her­ald’s un­flinch­ing ded­i­ca­tion to out­stand­ing jour­nal­ism has been recog­nised with a clutch of six nom­i­na­tions for the forth­com­ing Scot­tish Press Awards. Our front page from July that “Scot­land is Euro­pean”, on the threat of the UK be­ing taken out of the EU against the na­tion’s will, has been nom­i­nated in the Front Page of the Year cat­e­gory. For­eign edi­tor David Pratt has been nom­i­nated in two cat­e­gories, Re­porter of the Year and Fea­ture Writer of the Year. Iain Macwhirter is in the run­ning for Colum­nist of the Year. Staff are also nom­i­nated in the Po­lit­i­cal Jour­nal­istJ of the Year cat­e­gory.c Neil Mackay, edi­tor of thet Sun­day Her­ald, said: “I wish all staff the best of luck – just be­ing nom­i­nated is al­ready recog­ni­tion that they are the best in the busi­ness.” The win­ners will be an­nounced at a cer­e­mony in the Radis­son Blu ho­tel in Glas­gow on May 11. The Scot­tish Press Awards, now in their 38th year, is or­gan­ised by the Scot­tish News­pa­per So­ci­ety in con­junc­tion with Event Con­sul­tants Scot­land.
