Queensferry cross­ing ready to make his­tory

The £1.35 bil­lion Queensferry Cross­ing, the third across the Forth, opens to opens to traf­fic for the first time on Wed­nes­day.

The bridge, which has taken six years to con­struct, will then close on Fri­day to al­low the pub­lic to take part in a “once in a life­time” chance to walk over it on Satur­day and Sun­day. Af­ter that there will be no pedes­trian ac­cess.

The bridge will be opened by the Queen. First Min­is­ter Ni­cola Sturgeon said it was fit­ting that the bridge was to be opened by the Queen ex­actly 53 years af­ter open­ing the Forth Road Bridge.
