Queensferry crossing ready to make history
The £1.35 billion Queensferry Crossing, the third across the Forth, opens to opens to traffic for the first time on Wednesday.
The bridge, which has taken six years to construct, will then close on Friday to allow the public to take part in a “once in a lifetime” chance to walk over it on Saturday and Sunday. After that there will be no pedestrian access.
The bridge will be opened by the Queen. First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said it was fitting that the bridge was to be opened by the Queen exactly 53 years after opening the Forth Road Bridge.
