Unfazed Senderos not focused on opposition

-

Phillipe Senderos has revealed that Rangers have barely watched Morton ahead of today’s Scottish Cup tie.

Graeme Murty has been named caretaker boss for Gers’ fifth-round Cup clash, following Mark Warburton and Davie Weir’s sudden exit.

But Senderos, who was handed a rare start in last week’s 1-1 draw at home to Ross County, insists they’ve done very little homework on Jim Duffy’s men. He

said: “We don’t really look at the opposition that much – and the Cup is the same. We have more quality than most of the teams.

“I won the FA Cup and was in the Champions League Final with Arsenal against Barcelona.

“But when you’re at a club like Rangers and Arsenal you’ll be playing lesser teams in Cups, because we are up there and most other teams are below us.”

A criticism of Warburton was that he didn’t scout opposition teams enough.

But Swiss defender Senderos says it’ll be business as usual and they’ll continue to focus on themselves.

He said: “Is it a different type of game against Morton? No, we want to be in the next round so that’s all that matters to us. Every game at Rangers is a massive game – everyone is waiting for us to fail and we know that. What you want is to put in a good, professional performance in front of your own crowd. Do the job, don’t think about the upsets.”

Despite the recent controversy around Warburton’s departure, Senderos says the squad is united.

He said: “We have a positive message that needs to come out, everyone is together and nothing is affecting us.”
