Trawlers wipe out haddock and cod

Fishermen have been accused of wiping out vital cod and haddock supplies off Scotland’s west coast.
Marine scientists from Glasgow University say supplies of young fish were destroyed by trawlermen dredging up the seabed in the Firth of Clyde, wrecking their natural habitat.
Researchers say stronger measuresm are needed to protectpr the seabed from damageda and help young fish stockssto recover.
Scottish Fishermen’s FederationFe chief executive BertieBe Armstrong said: “We willwi study this report before givinggiv a detailed response.”
