Kenny Dalglish dons his kilt and grabs a sword but it was Scotland team-mate Archie Gemmill who cut the Dutch defence wide open at the 1978 World Cup in Argentina three months later.

A 3-1 defeat to Peru and 1-1 draw with Iran left them needing to beat Holland by four goals to make it through the first round.

While a 3-2 win wasn’t enough, Dalglish did get on the scoresheet before Gemmill waltzed past three players for a wonder goal.
