Legends on show for Fernando

Scotland hero Don Hutchison turned out for the Auld Enemy in a star-studded friendly in aid of Fernando R icken’s MND foundation yesterday.

He lined up for an England Select against Rangers Legends as football rivalries were put to one side on an emotional af ternoon at Fleetwood’s Highbury Stadium.

Light Blue legions descended on Lancashire with a crowd of Rangers Legends .....2 England Select .........3 Gavin Berry ovation, watched Marvin Andrews head the Rangers XI into the lead only for Gavin McCann to level.

Charlie Miller replaced Ronald Waterreus in goal and despite a couple of fine saves he was beaten by Darren Anderton and Lee Hendrie struck.

Rangers supporter Alex Dick, one of three fans who donated £500 to join in the action, enjoyed a dream day when he found the net. Ricksen’s name was chanted on a lap of honour at full-time and, in a matchday programme message, he said: “I want to thank the fans for their support. I’m still fighting.”

Stan Gordon, a long standing organiser of the Gers legends games, also invited family members of Ryan Baird, who died in the Nith Valley supporters bus crash, to present Andrews with his man-of-the-match award.
