Two men in­jured in Arthur’s Seat fall

A man has been se­ri­ously in­jured af­ter fall­ing 40f t from Arthur’s Seat.

Emer­gency ser­vices were called to the Ed­in­burgh land­mark at about 7am yes­ter­day.

The man, who had suf fered se­ri­ous head in­juries, was low­ered down the hi l l by f iref ighters be­fore be­ing air­lifted by a coast­guard he­li­copter.

He wa s f low n to Ed­in­burgh Royal In­fir­mary, while an­other man with shoul­der in­jur ies was taken to hospi tal by am­bu­lance.

A spokesman for the Scot­tish Fire and Res­cue Ser­vice said: “We re­ceived a call from po­lice about a male ca­su­alty who had fallen 40ft down Arthur’s Seat.

“We mo­bilised line res­cue teams from Tol­cross fire sta­tion and a search and res­cue he­li­copter was mo­bilised to as­sist.

“One male ca­su­alt y had se­vere head in­juries was low­ered with l ine equip­ment and re­moved by the he­li­copter.

“One f ur ther ma l e ca­su­alty with shoul­der in­jur ies was taken to the Royal Inf ir­mary by the Scot­tish Am­bu­lance Ser­vice.”
