FM backs EU citizens
The SNP will use the conference to set out their plans to help EU citizens remain in Scotland after Brexit.
In her speech on Tuesday, Nicola Sturgeon will commit to exploring “all options” to secure EU citizens’ status.
She said yesterday: “As one example, if the UK Government impose charges on EU citizens forced to apply for settled status, the Scottish Government will ensure that devolved public bodies meet these costs for those working in our public sector.”
It is estimated about 20,000 EU citizens work directly for Scotland’s public sector, including the NHS.
