Men are the big spenders
Men are outspending women on clothes, shoes and even beauty products, figures showed yesterday.
Two-thirds of stores have seen an increase in male shoppers over the past five years and 70 per cent have increased their male product ranges to meet demand.
The figures explode the retail myth that women are the big spenders, according to analysis by Barclaycard.
Men are spending an average of £ 67 a month on clothes compared with £54 by women. They also spend £12 more on shoes and £ 6 more on grooming products.
Barclaycard said men are buying more in almost every retail category, spending on average £1534 more than women in shops last year.
