Chest what we always wanted

Sunday Mail (UK) - - The Judge -

High street shops and online retailers are battling it out to get a slice of the plus-size men’s fashion market.

River Island, Burton and Topman have all embraced the phenomenon, stocking many items up to size 5XL.

Slaters Menswear in Glasgow have just launched a muscle-fit suit line and their Big and Tall collection caters for men with a chest size up to 60in.

Online favourites ASOS and Boohoo have lots of garments aimed at bigger-boned men and many of the jeans companies, including Levi’s, are going larger.

Colours’ Mark Conlin said: “Consumerism has changed beyond recognition and all the big retailers are desperate to take advantage of the shift.

“Men who’d never have thought of going to Topman now can and the online stores are making trendy and fashionable lines available to plus-size men for the first time.

“The US has been doing it for years. Now the UK is embracing this direction with enthusiasm.”
