Tribute to Godfather of Italian cuisine
Viewers have thanked BBC show Saturday Kitchen for a touching tribute to celebrity chef Antonio Carluccio.
The Italian restaurateur died aged 80 after a fall at his home on Wednesday.
He first appeared on the programme when it came to screens in 2006, recently tak ing on a st int a s presenter, with close friends Gennaro Contaldo and Jamie Oliver.
Dedicating Saturday’s show to the late cook, presenter Matt Tebbutt paid tribute to the “godfather of Ita l ian gastronomy,” introducing a clip from Two Greedy Italians.
Fan Stefano Hatf ield responded on Twitter: “Shed a tear there at that beautiful tribute to the late, great Antonio Carluccio, a lovely man with a twinkly eye who I was privileged to meet a few times and learn from.”
Oliver paid tribute to Carluccio in an Instagram post, saying: “He was my first London boss 25 years ago.
“He w a s such a charismatic charming don of all things Italian! Always hanging out the front door of the restaurant with a big fat cigar [and] a glass of something splendid.”
