Lennon ‘overwhelmed’ by support
Labour MSP Monica Lennon said she was overwhelmed by support from politicians after revealing she was sexually assaulted by a senior male colleague.
She told the Sunday Mail last week how she was groped at a social event four years ago in front of people.
A friend said: “Monica is touched by the level of support she has received from politicians, including the First Minister, who spoke to her personally.”
Lennon said she made an initial complaint to the Scottish Labour Party but decided not to progress with it because she felt she would not be believed.
She said she had chosen to go public about the attack because she believes not enough was being done by Labour or other parties to support victims.
