Council leader accused of bullying
A politician has accused a council chief of intimidation after he made public details of a private conversation about sexual harassment.
Julie McKenzie criticised Argyll and Bute chief executive Cleland Sneddon for emailing councillors his account of the phone call soon after.
The SNP councillor for Oban North and Lorn had revealed in an open letter how she had suffered “low level sexual harassment”.
Sneddon emailed councillors telling them an investigation would be carried out. McKenzie said: “I was bullied and intimidated. I did not want to be forced down a complaint route.”
Sneddon said he “utterly repudiates any suggestion that myself or the monitoring officer bullied or intimidated the elected member”.
