STAR ALAN HELPS GET MESSAGE ACROSS
Hollywood star Alan Cumming has allowed a nurse to manage his Twitter and Instagram pages – to highlight frontline workers fighting Covid-19.
David Anderson was g iven access to the actor’s platforms for 24 hours to talk about his role in battling the pandemic.
The 51-year-old emergency medicine nurse, from Montrose, works with humanitarian charity UK-Med.
He returned to the UK in April from preparing South Africa for its coronavirus response to take on a role as director of quality and infection prevention and control at the NHS Nightingale Hospital in Manchester.
David told X-Men star Cumming’s 300,000 followers a global response to the killer bug is crucial.
He said: “Crisis inspires people to come together. We need to mitigate against a second wave, whilst balancing the impact on the economy, education and everything else.
“Alan is a really talented actor and it was great fun that he let me have access to his followers and fans.”
Since May, stars have been handing over their social media channels and access to their mi l lions of followers to frontline workers, health and economic experts as part of the #PassTheMic campaign.
Actors Julia Roberts, Hugh Jackman, Penelope Cruz and Sarah Jessica Parker have also taken part.
Cumming, 55, original ly from Aberfeldy, Perthshire, said: “Right now, as the world continues to deal with the pandemic, it’s more important than ever to continue to listen to the experts and those on the frontline of battling this disease.”
